Installation

When we arrive at your home or business, we’ll have all the necessary hardware and tools to safely and securely hang your art. We can install fine art, mirrors, textiles, TV’s, trophies, decals, and all manner of wall decor. Custom hardware and mounts can be fabricated for 3D objects and special projects.

Curating a space is one of our specialties. Our installation compositions can be seen in homes, businesses, galleries, court rooms, and institutions. We are also happy to hear your plans and follow your lead, or be guided by your interior designer’s instructions.

Conservation and Restoration

We offer both types of treatment for works of art on paper, documents, maps, frames, and objects. (Since there is a lot of overlap with conservation and restoration, we’ll discuss the differences more below.) Free estimates are available at our office in North Charleston, or we are happy to come to you. Estimates will be completed within one week of taking your art to the office for evaluation. All treatments will include written and photographic documentation.

The jury is still out on the exact differences between conservation and restoration treatments. Please let us take a moment to try and make the long story short:

A conservation treatment is used when a historically significant object is suffering from damage and the conservator intervenes to halt the damage from progressing. This may be cleaning, stabilizing media or substrate, removing or neutralizing contaminates, mending broken parts, and other treatments. All treatments are designed to be reversible by future conservators as per the standards and guidelines set by the American Institute for Conservation. Sometimes these treatments can aesthetically refresh a piece, but not always. The conservator’s goal is more to stabilize the art than to make a piece look free from damage.

A restoration is performed when the goal is to make the damaged art look ‘new’. Often this will include more permanent techniques to mask all defects. Replicas can also made when the damage is impossible to repair.
